Kevin,
Today was my first opportunity to update the driver. It works! But, the update didn't go at all as expected and I have a few questions still.
The setup.exe failed because the driver was not from my vendor, ASUS. The manual update in Device Manager failed because it claimed my driver was up to date. So I removed the driver through the standard uninstall program process. The uninstall was successful and I restarted the laptop. When the laptop came up, the display appeared to be in 640x480 mode. Then it churned for another few minutes and the display came back at an even higher resolution than I had originally set. I went into the device manager and found that the version of the driver was the same as before -- 10.18.10.3308. I suspected that either Live.com from Microsoft or some internal feature noted the driver change and reinstalled the previous one. But, I tried to connect to the Push-to-TV just to see what happened. It connected. I have picture and sound. There's just a little clipping problem at the bottom of the screen. I connected and disconnected successfully 3 times. I don't know what has happened to make it work.
In this new state, the laptop now requires me to push the power button after I close the cover. When I left it closed for a few hours and tried to reconnect, the push-to-tv option was gone from the option list. Just the laptop, a second screen, am extended screen, and a second extended screen. I restarted the laptop and Push-to-TV came back as an option.
I have 3 questions now:
1. Do you know what might have happened after I uninstalled the driver?
2. I've never been asked to confirm a number displayed on my TV. Most installation instructions seem to expect it. Is something still incomplete?
3. I don't recognize the "Miracast Tool" you tell me I must use. I've been using the Intel WiDi Remote program which seems to work.
Thanks for sticking with me on this issue.
Paul
